EdTech Masters Coursework Showcase
This next artifact is a site map for the CourseSites Quickademy website I created in EDTC 5153, Computer Based Instructional Development. The goal of the website is to offer quick and easy support for those who are uncomfortable navigating learning management systems (LMS), and prefer not to open the 155 page PDF "Quick Guide" Coursesites has created. The link to the Quickademy is below the site map image.

This image is a wordle I created in Foundations of Educational Technology. The assignment was to write 500 words or more on our understanding of educational technology entering the course. This wordle is a graphic representation of the terminology that had the most emphasis in my writing.

This elevator pitch was an assignment in EDTC 5720, Learning in a Digital World. The goal of the assignment was to create a video that shows how we would respond, in under a minute and a half, if someone asked us about our Hot Topic in educational technology. My hot topic was blended learning.
This video was one product of a group project where we created a professional learning community (PLC) using Google+. My job was to create the tutorial of the community and give a brief overview of the navigation and functionality of the community. We placed this tutorial at the top of our community for newcomers who want to know more about why the PLC exists and how they can use it.
This powerpoint is the Hot Topic presentation I created for Learning in a Digital World. My topic was blended learning and the goal of the presentation was to demonstrate research that shows why and how blended learning is an effective model. One of the major take-aways from my review of the literature is that blended learning isn't just the connection of online and face-to-face modalities. Effective blended learning is underwritten by a necessity to seek to implement learning opportunities that are most effective and appropriate for each modality.
This final paper, completed in EDTC 5503, Facilitating Online Learning, was a proposal to create an online train-the-trainer course for NASA education specialists in GLOBE protocols. This is one of my favorite artifacts because it has materialized into the current online GLOBE train-the-trainer program for NASA education specialists. There are currently 22 specialists from five NASA centers participating in the training, and the instructional design model I created is being presented on July 21 at the GLOBE annual meeting.
This document is the final research study proposal I created in REMS 5013, Research Designs and Methodology. The study aims to compare teacher satisfaction, in terms of enjoyment and effectiveness, with interactive activities in face-to-face vs. online learning environments. This study is meant to assist in the planning of teacher professional development exercises that are part of a blended learning model. By understanding more about what type of interactive activies are most effective and enjoyed more by teachers in each venue, we can plan and implement more impactful blended learning professional development experiences.
This mini-literature review was an effort to understand more about the effectiveness of distance learning efforts in synchronous and asynchronous learning environments for professional development. Because my current position involves the planning and implementation of professional development for teachers, the broud nature of most literature in distance learning did not fit my needs. It was difficult but rewarding to seek and find articles that dealt with synchronous and asynchronous distance learning in professional development scenarios.
